Mission Statement
Marbridge’s mission within the Equestrian Program is to change lives with horses by providing a balanced experience between mind and body, utilizing equine assisted therapies and the inherent partnership and healing abilities horses provide.
The Creed Ford III Therapeutic Riding Ranch (C3) serves residents with a wide range of emotional, physical, social and cognitive abilities. Our vision is to help each resident build horsemanship skills, confidence, responsibility, teamwork, critical thinking skills, and an overall improvement in independence
Our Story
-
The Marbridge Ranch began as a working ranch that allowed individuals to thrive to the best of their abilities and maintain productive daily lives. As the Marbridge Ranch evolved over the years, The T&E Department expanded in 2006, to include the Equestrian Program. The Equine Program allowed residents to expand their knowledge of horses, as well as enhance their abilities to work with horses in varying degrees. As the program progressed, it was determined that the program had outgrown its facilities in 2010.
The Creed Ford III Therapeutic Riding Ranch (C3) was the vision of Creed Ford III, a long-time Marbridge supporter and advocate for the benefits of equine therapy. His vision for the equine program at Marbridge helped bring the new arena to reality. With the continuous generosity from supporters and the dedication and perseverance of many, the C3 Therapeutic Riding Ranch came to fruition in May of 2023. This is an honorable legacy for a man who greatly valued philanthropy while supporting some of our community’s most vulnerable.
The 43,000 sq ft. building allows residents from all three communities at Marbridge to participate in equine related activities. It also allows for year-round training and provides protection from the elements including rain, extreme heat, and bitter cold. We currently have 70+ that participate in the Equine Riding Classes, Grooming Classes and Hippotherapy. Beyond class instruction, many of the residents go on to participate in horse shows throughout the year including Special Olympics Events. The program continues to achieve success as we move forward – none of which could be done without the ongoing commitment, support and dedication of our supporters, staff and volunteers.
