About The Villa

The Villa provides a safe, loving environment for up to 90 adults exclusively with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who cannot care for themselves. We are a licensed skilled nursing facility that provides individualized medical, rehabilitative, dietary, and social services. Residents at The Villa represent a diversity in diagnoses. Many families choose The Villa for loved ones who have an intellectual disability or more profound developmental medical needs.

The Villa is the only facility of our type in Texas and one of only three in the nation. We have a long history of providing excellent care and has remained a five star rating by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for many years in a row.

Residents who live in The Villa enjoy a full life with a schedule full of games, classes, activities, and opportunities offered on campus as well as some community outings while under 24-hour licensed medical supervision.

The Villa offers spacious shared or single occupancy rooms, Individual Care planning and an on-site Life Enrichment Center.

Staff & Support

The Nursing provides 24-hour skilled nursing care, on-staff registered dietitian, social worker, and enrichment specialists. The Villa also has in house physical, occupational, and speech therapists along with a state of the art Synsorium.

Eligibility & Admissions

To be a resident at The Villa, individuals must be 18 years of age or older and have a primary diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disability, prior to the age of 18. They must also need physical assistance with daily living activities, and in need of medical care provided by registered, licensed, and certified nursing staff.

– Has a defined intellectual and/or developmental disability or head injury prior to the age of 18.
– In need of physical assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, grooming, etc.).
– In need of medical care provided by registered, licensed and certified nursing staff.
– Meets the requirements of pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASARR) as approved in writing by a physician or official nurse.
– Free of aggressive or threatening behaviors with no serious psychiatric or mental health conditions.

Villa residents have a full schedule of activities they can participate in coordinated by our two full time Life Enrichment Specialists. They also enjoy off-campus activities including town trips, baseball games, excursions, shopping, and more.

Skills & Independence

The Villa works hard to meet residents where they are and will give them to tools to achieve their goals made during their Individualized Care Plan Meetings.

Support When You Need It

The Villa has a full medical team, nursing staff, and in house rehabilitation teams to assist them in their everyday needs. The Villa also has a full time Social Worker along with visiting therapy services.

What does pricing look like for a place at The Villa?

The Villa accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. Please contact the Admissions Department for more detailed pricing information.

Is your program licensed?

Yes, The Villa is licensed by THHS as a skilled nursing care community.

Can you describe a typical Villa resident?

An individual with IDD who is medically fragile and has a diagnosis requiring nursing supervision

What is the staffing level Ratio?

Staff ratio is 1:10 or 1:12 depending on shift intervals, with 24-hour supervision.

Can you accommodate special diets?

We have a licensed and registered dietitian and dietary crew that provides 3 meals and a snack daily and can accommodate specialized diets such as mechanical soft, puree, and thickened.

Do you offer therapy?

Yes, OT, PT, and ST assessments and care can be provided in-house by our rehab team.

What does a typical day look like for a resident?

Enrichment specialists provide daily activities and there are scheduled monthly outings. The Villa also has a sensory room, a contained courtyard for outdoor opportunities, and an active rotation of volunteers/volunteer groups.

Can I pick up my loved one?

Yes, whether it is for a holiday, a family trip, or a weekend at home, residents are able to enjoy time away with approved family and friends. Please note that if a resident is funded through Long Term Medicaid, there is a 72-hour hour maximum per visit before entering bed-hold status.
