By 2012, the Marbridge campus will look dramatically different than it does today. Although our campus has served residents well for many years, the facilities must be modernized and expanded to meet planned program requirements and to ensure that Marbridge remains a premier facility for adults with developmental disabilities.
Based on a needs assessment as well as on focus group meetings with families, residents, staff, and community leaders, a Master Architectural Plan (MAP) was developed by Ryan Street & Associates. The new plan includes identifiable open spaces for informal gathering, as well as pathways and trails to improve access to existing campus facilities. It creates a vehicle-free "town square" to serve as a center of campus, and improves resident and visitor access to administrative offices and training facilities. Perhaps the most exciting features of the new plan are the beautiful new residences, including 14 cottages in The Village at Marbridge and a new dormitory at The Ranch at Marbridge.
With the total cost for this eight-phase plan estimated at approximately $24 million, the Marbridge expansion is no small undertaking. A capital campaign has been established to help raise funds for construction, and a five-year comprehensive budget with five-year financial projections are part of the business plan for achieving self-sustaining operations. To help address our goal of financial security, a portion of Marbridge property (133 acres), including the current Mabee Village, was sold with the new Village at Marbridge being reconstructed on the main campus serving an additional 17 residents. A comprehensive development plan is in place to provide diverse sources of revenue and an endowment for perpetual funding of self-sustaining operating costs. By creating a state-of-the-art facility that can provide a home for an optimum number of residents, Marbridge can sustain perpetual, self-sustaining, affordable operations while maintaining a high quality of care for all residents.
