There are many ways you can volunteer at Marbridge. From companionship to horticulture therapy, we have a place for you. Marbridge can put your time, talents, services, and products to use to benefit our residents—and we’d be pretty surprised if you didn’t have fun in the process.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Ideal Commitment:
4 to 5 hours per month
Area of Involvement:
Campus-wide
Role: We are seeking individuals or families who wish to mentor to one resident. Mentors commit to spending time each week or every other week with the resident to act as a positive role model. Volunteer mentors may do fun town trips to movies, restaurants, shopping, sport events and other leisure activities.
Ideal Commitment:
Once a week - Mon, Tues or Wed
Area of Involvement:
Training and Education
Role: We often need help with general greenhouse duties, such as watering and weeding. Volunteers can also assist our horticulture instructor as he teaches residents how to care for plants.

Flexible—day, evening or weekend
Area of Involvement:
The Village
Role: Energetic volunteers are needed to encourage our residents to walk walk walk! Village residents try to complete several laps around campus each week in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and they could always use a friend to keep them company!
Ideal Commitment:
Flexible, must be able to attend regional and state competitions
Area of Involvement:
The Ranch, The Village
Role: Volunteer would provide coaching and supervision assistance during out of town competitions. Must be available to attend an all day competition in Burnett on September 25, and State competition in Pearland from October 14–17. Daily practices are optional as they are held during business hours.

Area of Involvement:
Equine Therapy Center (a.k.a. the stable)
Role: If you enjoy working with horses and don't mind getting dirty, please come out to help with our growing equine therapy program. Guide our residents as they learn the basics of horsemanship through proper grooming and riding.
Ideal Commitment:
2 to 4 hours weekly or every other week
Area of Involvement:
Administration
Role: We need help with light office work such as mailings, filing, and other duties. Office hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm M-F, and volunteer time may be flexible within those operating hours and days.

Flexible—day, evening or weekend
Area of Involvement:
All communities
Role: Come hang out with residents at any of our three communities. Play board or card games or put puzzles together. Watch movies and discuss. Read aloud or tell stories. Our residents love visitors and making new friends!

The Village
Role: Cooking aficionados are needed to assist residents in independent cottages learn to prepare their own meals. You can help with menu and dietary planning as well as meal preparation.

Jenna began volunteering at the Village in the fall of 2009. She serves as an “iWalk Buddy” motivating residents and keeping them company as they complete half-mile laps around campus. She also steps in and helps with the monthly birthday parties when available. Thanks Jenna!
